Here are a few organizations I am fond of :
The Bridge Home No Kill Animal Rescue : “We are the fastest growing No Kill animal adoption and rescue organization in East Tennessee, dedicated to offering No Kill solutions to the animals of Sullivan County TN. and surounding areas and the people who want to help them. Our programs include rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, humane education and animal food/supply support. We are a dynamic non-profit made up of people of all backgrounds and professions committed to offering the Tri-Cities a real alternative to shelters that kill homeless animals.”
Happy Dog Adoption in Buchanan Dam, Texas is a wonderful group that rescues abandoned and stray dogs as well as dogs in shelters with a high-euthanization rate. Happy Dog cares for every dog until they find the perfect home. I went to high school with the woman who founded this organization, and am so inspired by her work. You can learn more by clicking on her Facebook link above.
The Rutherford County Humane Society of North Carolina is one of my favorite charities. They are an exceptional group of folks that work very hard to help animals in need.
Ashe County Arts Council is located in the heart of beautiful West Jefferson, NC. They are an impressive group of accomplished artists, administrators and one beautiful kitty named Zaneeta. If you are ever fortunate enough to visit charming West Jefferson, stop by their beautiful gallery to view handmade art from around the Blue Ridge
The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwold Tennessee, is the nation’s largest natural habitat refuge for African and Asian Elephants. The sanctuary provides captive elephants a natural habitat and safe haven dedicated to their wellbeing.
North Carolina Voters for Animal Welfare is a state-wide political action committee (PAC) dedicated to improving the care and treatment of all animals by electing legislators that will pass laws to protect animals.
Second Chance Dogs of Ashe is an organization dedicated to eliminate the need for euthanasia of homeless animals in Ashe County.
Newport Animal Shelter is an excellent organization and has placed so many animals. 2 of my babies came from there.
Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic organization in Banner Elk, North Carolina, that rehabilitates injured wildlife.
The National Anti-Vivisection Society not only helps to educate the horrible truth of animal experimentation but works towards an overall understanding of what it means to be compassionate to all creatures.
Charlene Logan Burnett, Area Coordinator for The NorCal Collie Rescue in Yolo, Yuba, Sutter and Butte counties of California. Charlene is an author, and rescuer of animals in need. Visit her website via the above link.
